Meet Porky the Porcupine
Porcupines are among the most common animals found in Saskatchewan. They are herbivores that are primarily active at night and spend most of their days in trees.
They are also thought of as shy, solitary creatures. But when a baby porcupine is separated from its mother, the loneliness can be nearly unbearable. That’s exactly what happened to Porky, a young porcupine that was brought to Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation.
Her early days at the Centre were spent hiding and crying for its mother, causing great stress for staff members who also got to experience a porcupine’s famous defence mechanism; using quills to protect itself.
Emma comes up with an idea to try and get Porky to relax but will it be enough for it to gain both the strength and confidence it needs to make it in the wild? Find out in season 2 of STAYING WILD.
